After taking the pulse of employers around the world to learn what was on their minds in 2012, Mercer launced an initiative to help organizations understand and address their most pressing issues and concerns. This is the fourth installment in "Inside Employers' Minds: Confronting Critical Workforce Challenges," a series created by Big Think in partnership with Mercer.
Today we're looking at the ticking pension time bomb with retirement policy expert Alicia Munnell. Munnell points out that as more and more businesses switch from offering defined benefit plans to defined contribution plans, it's imperative that employers lend employees a hand in understanding and deciphering their options. More choice can be a good thing, but employers will need to educate employees about making smart investment decisions, she argues.
