Today's Big Idea: Inside Employers' Minds
After taking the pulse of employers around the world to learn what was on their minds in 2012, Mercer launced an initiative to help organizations understand and address their most pressing issues and concerns. This is the second installment in "Inside Employers' Minds: Confronting Critical Workforce Challenges," a new series created by Big Think in partnership with Mercer.

SAS is a software company which has been #1 on Fortune's Best Companies to Work For List for many years running. In an interview with Big Think, SAS CEO Jim Goodnight argued for a saner, more balanced workplace, with benefits. He believes that employees who are worried about how long a doctor's appointment will take or whether they'll be able to pick up the dry cleaning by six are not able to focus fully on whatever tasks are at hand. So he makes it his job to help employees check off their to-do lists. Jane McGonigal gives a passionate appeal for doing away with to-do lists altogether.
