As sad as it may be, many kids and teens are involoved in acts of animal cruelty. Reasons for this may be that it makes them seem tough, they're depressed or upset, or peer pressure. Studies show that children who abuse animals are more likely to grow up as people who harm other human beings. In my opinion, a life is a life, no matter what the species is. Awareness should be raised about this issue and parents and guardians should teach their children at a young ageto respect other living creatures. I am currently working to establish a club for humane education for children ages eight to seventeen. The club (called Kids Against Animal Cruelty) will focus on helping the local humane organization and learning about animal cruelty. I, myself, am fourteen years old.

when kids or teens abuse animals from peer presure have slim chance of harming other humans.
that is just stupid kids being kids.
but when someone does harm animals it’s from a built up anger or frustration at someone.
kids and teens usually do because they are abused.
it really has nothing to do with depression or doing it to stay dominant(as you put it to seem tough).
I find it very impressive that a 14 year old is taking this stance but, you said that a life is a life, correct?
well are you vegitarian because if not, you are only controdicting yourself.
good job though.
cudos!

No offense, but I know what I’m talking about. I am an active volunteer at the third oldest humane organization in the United States. I’m a friend of the organization’s president as well, and I’m going to be an animal cruelty investigator someday, so don’t say that the reasons I believe are responsible for animal cruelty are wrong. I’ve heard stories about and seen many animals in horrendous conditions for various reasons.

I myself have been researching the subject of animal cruelty, and frankly I am nothing but appauled by the actions of the individuals who do so. Why do people continue to do so, anyways? What people need to learn is that we are all part of the same global community, no matter what the species, and the actions carried out by people like Michael Vick are no different from racism, slavery, and genocide. It’s a shame, really. Congrats on KAAC by the way!
