Genetics so far have disproven the idea of race.

However, I understand your caution because Americans do live in a highly racialized society, and when you bring that together with snippets of genetic knowledge it can be easy for people to distort the factual information when it is coupled with the racial myths that dominate their thinking.

Last I heard, if anything this kind of research shows that our actual origins are very mixed, and as Rozen said, do not lead to support of any ideas of 'race.' I know of at least one Scandinavian (very blond hair, very blue eyes) who turned up to have a genetic heritage including both Africans and Asians.
