I wish my boss had Glocer's philosophy. What ever happened to "Less is More" ? The endless meetings with tons of papers handed out are a huge waste of time. I could be at my desk getting the job that I already know how to do, done. The information age just means more workshops and books and reports that I don't have time to read. The truth is 90% of the information at training sessions is useless and most people throw all the stuff in the garbage after the meeting. We need to spend more time doing our work and less time talking about how to do our work. The Age of Accountability= workers spending more time doing paper work than actually working , resulting in less productivity!

Facebook is/was a great way for me to keep in touch with friends and relatives that live far away. I have yet to use it for any other reason than to simply keep in touch. When I first joined Facebook, I would log on every night and write my status, make comments and send messages. After a few months, I started losing interest, and I noticed that other people who joined at the same time as I did, were not posting very much either. It began to remind me of those "family update" Christmas letters that some people send out. You could say the novelty has worn off. Are people using Facebook to "advertise" themselves or their companies? I'd rather not discuss Twitter. Just the idea of getting constant updates from any person, group or company annoys me. Don't get me wrong, I love my computer for news and discussion and my Palm Pilot to be in touch, but Twitter is not for me. I'd rather be living life than texting about it and reading other peoples tweets.

I like Belsky's ideas. I also like his style of writing, its clear and concise. This made me think feel that he probably has a good thing going on at at Behance. (Super name for a company too- is the idea " Be Part of an Ehancement")? I'm starting to realize that tough times bring out either the best, or the worst, in people. I think Belsky's advice helps us to realize that this might be a time in which we are able to focus and "bring out the best" in ourselves, in our employees and from our customers. I am wondering abou this: How we can keep ourselves sharp, focused and innovative when conditions improve and we are not under such stress to merely survive? I would really like to hear Mr. Belsky's thought on that question. I hope I read more from him in the future on BigThink.

Because I'm not wealthy, and can't afford to make high risk investments, I find Roger's advice comforting. He seems to conservative in his views about where to put your money- yet he is described as an "investment legend" His approach is one that appeals to me- make educated, careful decisions about your finances. I'm not an expert on any certain currency or commodity and Rogers admits that he isn't either- until he does careful research. I like his cautious , yet relaxed, attitude towards making investment decisions. Yes, alot of people have made alot of money in high-risk ventures, yet just as many have lost everything. Cassy Roberts' comment about Rogers being awesome is right on the mark- I think he's a "legend" because of his careful, studied approach to all financial matters.

A huge problem in many companies is pregnancy. In many places a woman who decides to have children is treated as if she is not commited to her company or she has some disease that she brought upon herself. I personally know women whose bosses stopped speaking to them after they were informed of the pregnancy. Other women have been asked why they aren't having abortions. Upon returning from maternity leave they find they've been given new positions with demeaning work. By the way, all the bosses who took these actions against these expectant mothers where all other women! Under the law, pregnant women are protected, in practice they are often subjected to all kinds of unfair labor practices.
