Has the United States ever been a democracy? It seems to me the people of the United States recently voted in a democrat majority to get US troops out of Iraq. The result is more troops in Iraq and no withdrawal. Sickeningly, Nancy Pelosi the leader of the democratic majority in Congress was the chief cheer leader for the recent Wall Street bail out. Even Republicans voted against it in the first vote. I just don't get how the people vote for one thing and get another. It is the same the world over.
