Lidia is right on. We, as a culture, are too intent on doing too many things and not doing them well.

How many families spend their evenings running from place to place or running their children from place to place to keep up with the pack?

Sitting at the dinner table as a family and having discussions about the experiences of the day will do more to shape your children than any outside activity. This also gives the children a better sense of self and of belonging and consequently of security.

I tend to agree with Lidia – and with the name of this topic. I love my family and I am a very enthusiastic cook and one of the pleasures in my life is to cook a meal for my people. I think putting care and thought into a meal shows in the end result and that turns it into a happy time at the table, with family and friends. My family always have dinner together every day and during the meal we get an insight into everyone's day, thoughts and plans – meals can be very lively and I can't imagine it any other way.
