Lev!n commented on Marijuana Right or Wrong? on February 10, 2008, 8:55 PM
To JGER: I have been smoking for a couple of years now (smoking almost every day) but yet I'm fine. I'm in the second year of college and received a 3.325gpa last semester. Also, marijuana is not physically addictive so who ever can not kick the habit does not have any will power. When used in the right way, marijuana is a miracle drug (use to relax, socialize, relieve stress, or as a pain killer). Many tests have been done, and each one has proven that marijuana is less dangerous than alcohol and tobacco. You can not overdose on marijuana, but you can with alcohol. The gov. should just legalize it and tax it. That would have so many good effects. For one, the prison population is 55% drug offenders and a 1/3 of them are there because of marijuana. Boy, that would save us as tax payers a lot of money.
Lev!n commented on Should Marijuana be legalized on January 31, 2008, 11:15 PM
Marijuana should be legalized. The only reason that pot is illegal is because of racist actions taken against Mexican immigrant in the 30s who were using hemp as a cash crop. Today it holds about a 1/3 of the drug offenders in prison (drug offenders take up 55% of the TOTAL prison population). If it were to be decriminalized the tax payers would save money by reducing our prison population and court cases, the government could make money and tax it, new farming jobs would be available, and it would become to be known as what it is: a miracle drug you can use for relaxation, a pain reliever, and to socialize w/ (and never overdose, which a lot of people do on alcohol).
Lev!n commented on How should young people think about the election? on January 30, 2008, 2:26 PM
The thing is when you are voting you have to have a certain personal criteria that you are voting from. The candidate has to fit your personal ideals and beliefs. He/she also has to be credible and trustworthy. Now I know this is politics and I don't trust a single one of them. But if you actually participate you can weed out who is more consistent on their stances on policy and how they will run the office.
Lev!n commented on Paul Krugman Untangles Iraq on January 30, 2008, 2:19 PM
Regardless if the war in Iraq has been less expensive than WWII or Vietnam is irrelevant. We are spending way to much of tax payers money for an unjust war. And even if the effect on our economy is minimal it is still an effect that we do not want. Secondly, the money that we are spending on killing people we should be spending here at home on our schools, our infrastructure, our environment, and our social programs.

Lev!n commented on What is the general idea of Zeitgeist movement? on November 24, 2008, 12:48 PM
There are two parts of the zeitgeist movement that must be recognized: (1) it is an attempt to get people to look beyond what is shown to you as the truth and find out for yourself. The greatest gift that we as humans poses is the ability of abstract thought. (2) is to purpose a plan of making society better for all people based on the belief that we can do better - "to create a society that is updated to present knowledge."In response to roakes, the fact that money is debt is a proven fact. In Zeitgeist Add () breaks down the way that money is created and its use from the manual that used to create money and regulate its use. Modern Money Mechanics was created by the Federal Reserve. If you have trouble believing it, go to Google, and look up the Fed and Modern Money Mechanics and see for yourself how far fetched these facts really are. A major message of the Zeitgeist Movement is to expand your knowledge, to fulfill your full potential as a human, and to use all of our resources for the betterment of all human kind. We can accomplish this through mass boycotts of the banking system, organization, protest, and that is about the extent of what the plan purposes thus far. The problem with this is that we are calling for a revolution. A revolution of the mind first and foremost, and then a revolution of the entire social system and its structure. This is not possible with boycotts and protests alone. If this is to truly occur there will be violence, I am sad to say. That is the way that it has been since recorded history - no change ever came easily...especially no revolution. The first hurdle, however, is to get wide exposure. Start talking to people. Show others the film. Continue to discuss these topics on bigthink, social networks, and blog sites. Start to organize in your own comunity. This will be no easy task but we must be prepared, for the fact of the matter is that sh!t has already hit the fan (the economy and foreign policy) and it is about to get worse. So instead of falling in line and having the elite ruling class determine what we should be doing with our own lives, we need to figure it out for ourselves. They know nothing of us and we should not submit to their rule any longer! Lets make a better world for our children and their children. peace
