Do you believe in the existence of aliens?
I'm curious to know what other people believe about aliens. I just don't see how it's possible for humans to be the only form of life throughout the entire universe. However I do think that many of the alleged UFO sightings are just silly. First of all, what do you think about the existence of aliens and secondly, what do you think about possible alien-human interaction. Read More

Re: What is your favorite quote?
There are too many quotes to choose from, but I chose these for my high school yearbook quotes."Nothing worth having comes easy." I got it from the tv show Scrubs, but it very well could have originated from somewhere else."Laugh often. It is good medicine." -Lord Byron Read More

What is happening to the integrity of students?
As a highschool senior it has become an observation of mine through the past six years that cheating has become normal. Why is it that there are not enough negative consequences to cheating to minimize its existence? I think that too many students have rationalized cheating or categorized their behaviors as 'not cheating.' Some students can blame their actions on the pressures of society to be successful, but it is my opinion that cheating is the result of a loss of integrity. If students really feel so much pressure to succeed, why don't they just do their work? (I realize it is not… Read More

I'm Laura. I'm a high school senior in a town in CT. I will attend Fordham University in the Bronx next year, studying to become a psychiatrist.
What else...I am usually liberal in my opinions. I don't follow any existing religions, though I respect the moral values that religion can give people who understand the religion that they follow. I support religious freedom.I am pro-choice, although I personally could never have an abortion.I am only intolerant of people who are intolerant. ;) I will respect you as long as you do not base your opinions of someone on gender, age, race, religion, sexual preference, or anything else of that sort.I believe that people who are overweight are condemned too severely by others. I believe that most people are self-destructive in some way and that just because obesity is a type of self-destructiveness that is clearly visual, that it should not be equated with ugliness.I am anti-war because I am anti-people dying.I am also against the death penalty. I believe people who committ crimes that could result in the death penalty should be instead sentenced to life in prison. That way their punishment is longer, but at the same time, they have the chance to at least think about who they were and develop a new sense of character before they die in their prison cell.Optimism or pessimism? On one hand, I would like to believe that there is some kind of goodness in everyone and that despite all of the evil in the world, underneath it all that in everyone there is that innocent child who knows nothing of murder and would never dream of doing so.On the other hand, I feel that war is a part of human nature and believe that despite world efforts to create long-lasting peace, that war will never end.I am sympathetic to suicide.I watch more tv than the average person, and have actually developped my morals from tv shows, despite the increasing presence of sex and violence.I am disgusted by the amount of people that abuse drugs and I think that people should find alternative ways to feeling 'high.' For example, try spinning around in circles, jumping on a trampoline, even just playing competitive sports (without steroids of course!) or playing music in front of an audience. Instead of seeking the high that drugs can give you, a rush of adrenaline can be just as satisfactory (not that I REALLY know, because I have never done drugs) and won't ruin your health or cause bad decision making. In terms of sex, I do not believe in abstinence until marriage, though I do respect the decision to abstain. I might not believe in abstinence, but I do believe in personal responsibility. I believe that if every person was analyzed that it would be determined that each one had some type of mental illness, only that certain cases are far more extreme than others. I believe that mental instability can be treated with medication, in addition to therapy.I believe in aliens. I believe in ghosts. I believe in (some) psychics.I hope to someday adopt several children. I don't want to bring anyone into this world knowing how cruel it can be, but want to help people who are already here to realize how beautiful it can be.I think that gun control should be stricter.I think stem cell research should be allowed.I think that students cheat too often.I believe everyone has a purpose and that everything happens for a reason.
Respect my views and opinions and I will respect yours. I have support for everything I said, though, regarding several political issues, I do not know 100% of the facts and doubt that you do.
