I am definitely a Viconian. But I don’t agree with the whole range of Vico’s philosophy.  Sometimes philosophers can make one single great statement that deserves to be read over and over. I like to read some of the old greats like Vico, because you get to observe how their philosophy became the norm throughout the different eras of societies. I like Fukyoma, as one of todays philosophers. But he has a great personality that helps to enhance his work. One can also pick up great snippets of philosophy in books such as Robert Putman’s “Bowling Alone” or Debra Tanen’s “Argument Culture” I think philosophy is a lot more attractive if it is done in a good narrative. It is not anymore believable, but it is easier reading for the lay person.
