Teaching Shakespeare JUST with DVDs makes our visual-oriented students believe that visual version of the play, rather than imagining the possibilities of interpretation. Also, reading Shakespeare, though laborious, improves reading skills. Afterwards, showing CLIPS of various DVD versions of the same scene continues to engage students' critical faculties in comparing choices of different actors and directors.
