Have you checked out Unitarian Universalists (UU)? Some UUs are secular humanists, some are atheists, some are deists, some are Christians, many do not really fit into any one catagory. "UUism" is rooted in Christianity and transcendentalism, though by no means does that limit what UUs are today. There is no dogma or creedal test and each congregation is run by the congregants. The one thing that runs through most of the UU congregations out there is the belief that all life has worth and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Perhaps this is the community you are looking for?

Let's work on banning use of coal and fossil fuels for power and work on implementing a distributed grid for power generation. This servesmany positive outcomes. For example, it opens the field to competition. Additionally, once the resources are spent in creating devices which collect power and then distribute that power, no more precious resources need be used. This helps reduce the greenhouse gas burden on our planet in many ways. Finally, a distributed power grid, as opposed to a centrally managed power grid like we have now, is significantly less open to sabotage on a large scale and is subject to smaller demands, so may be, in fact, more responsive to specific community needs.I will be back to writ more on this later.   … Read More
