I am very interested in the "Jus ad Bellum" or "justice in going to war" aspect of diplomacy and international conflict. Have we found WMD's or made a connection between Saddam's Baath party and Al Qaeda? I have not heard of any connection being verified, but a good portion of America still believes we have found the evidence to legitimize the war. Why?
Interesting poll to back up the "portion of America" comment -> http://www.harrisinteractive.com/harris_poll/index.asp?PID=684

The only connection that ever existed was a small terrorist group. NOT Al Qaeda. That was located in Northern Iraq. That was AGAINST Sadam. There was never any connection between Sadam and Al Qaeda, and there were never any WMD’s. The CIA has come right out and said that Bush’s administration took what they told them and used pieces of information to mislead the congress. (which is a Federal crime I might add)
The “connections” that were used as justification for the war were out of context and misleading, and sometimes just blatant lies. they were used for just that, justification for entering Iraq. The will to enter Iraq existed long before 9/11 and the threat of terrorism when the LAST Bush was president (with a lot of the same people by his side). Thats what the Gulf war was all about.
The reason people still believe we’re justified for being in there is….well because Americans are dumb. Ok not dumb, but ignorant, complacent, and Ill informed by the media AND our own government.
