what will the city of the future look like? How will we or will we have zero emissions cities? The Chinese already have one such ZEC (zero emissions city) on the drawing board. Will the US get on board? On Star Trek Voyager in the episode 11:59, Captain Janeway learns that her ancestor convinced the last hold-out on the millenium project to give in. The project could be described as an eco-city. The city is self contained and shaped roughly like a wheel with one large spire in the centre and spokes radiating out from the ground floor of the spire and an outer ring surrounding the whole city. Or it can be described as looking remarkably like Farpoint Station to those who know the reference. Is this the direction we should go? can a ZEC be built? … Read More

I read an article in the journal "Science" recently about flexible batteries. Seems to me that there is a good possibility of having these in the next decade. Flexible batteries along with flexible PLEDs will make the flexible auto updating newspaper a reality, in addition to that if it ever gets to the point that the PLED can be written on there won't be a need for paperwork because people will be able to write on the "paper" and transmit it wherever it needs to go then just update the "paper" with the next form and move on it'll save many trees and be as easy as real paper to read. Back to the flexible batteries. They'll work by essentially making a battery in nano-scale. At this point (after ultra-miniaturization) they'll be technical or biological in nature but still they'll be flexible. Imagine making a battery into a paper airplane and throwing it to someone who pops it into their device or vice versa. … Read More

When will humanity figure out how to apparently exceed the speed of light. I say apparently exceed, because according to men like Spanish Physicist Miguel Alcubierre one can appear to exceed the speed of light, without violating relativity's prohibition. You're welcome to disagree, but please offer opinions … Read More
