yes, i believe that chanting in yoga class has given me a certain level of empowerment, and then that hearing my own voice amongst a chorus of others, and how i want my voice to resonate with others. i also believe that sanskrit, because the language is precise and meaningful, also contributes to choosing our words, actions,a and thoughts more carefully. lastly, there is a beautiful reawakening process that happens when one learns to sing or to chant, it is like a reconnecting to a self that has been lost or forgotten, and that self is not just singing some song, but it is singing mantras and slokas that bring about such wonderful by products - peace, nonviolence...etc.

yoga communities are becoming safe havens - places that no matter where you are in the world (what country), where you are in your life, where you are in your flexibility of mind or body, what color skin you are, what background, how much money you have...you can show up and automatically feel a common thread, a coming together - this is transformative!
