The way we treat animals has probably contributed to the spread of the virus  among  them. Pigs, cows, chickens and many others are kept in crowded and unsanitary conditions all over the world, thus allowing a much higher transmission rate. We are our own worst enemies. A more ethical treatment of livestock could lessen the severity of future outbreaks.
