Diversity is important. It allows us to communicate & to understand perspectives. Being from a small town, I went to a small university where there was diversity, but I never felt engaged in it. I would work with other people, but I never learned about other cultures or beliefs-my fault-but I did not feel comfortable asking questions. I believe that 9-11 opened our eyes to diversity & how important it is for everyone. Understanding other cultures may help us to live together peaceably.
I am a full-time working mother - both inside and outside of the home. I think that every mother is a "working mother," but our society thinks that a "working mother" must receive a monetary paycheck from outside the home.
In any case, I love the work that I do outside of the home. I work in higher education and primarily work with faculty to effectively integrate technology into their classrooms. On occasion, I teach adjunct courses.
I spend time at my children's school (daycare) and am very active in what goes on there. I enjoying going in on my lunch break to eat lunch with my girls or to just read to their class.
I have never been active in politics, but have strong religious beliefs. Although, I like to think that I am opened minded to other religions, I don't think that I would ever leave my church. I just happen to like it and believe in the power of prayer.
