James O'Donnell commented on The word "College' to describe University on February 7, 2008, 5:08 AM
Jeff P, you are obviously american, you fail to realise that the education level output from America is not of very high standard compared to the world scale and the American "college" system is not held in as high esteem as the British University system.Cosmos: what are you smoking, where did you get that outrageous idea from, according to you, Australia named its colleges (high schools) universities, I know for a fact this is not true
James O'Donnell commented on Japanese Whaling. Cultural Right? or Environmentally Wrong? on January 22, 2008, 1:43 AM
Well that is part of the problem, there really is not argument for that statement yet the Japanese continue to hunt whales, and come up with flawed defense arguments such as that one. with the media bombardment we are getting it is hard to see both sides of the story, but either way i believe that they are being greedy and are not looking out for the environment. Incase you missed it, another one of their arguments is that it is their culture to hunt whales in the antarctic. considering they are in the northern hemisphere and the timeline of technology that would alow such thing it must be a lie along with everything else they are saying.
James O'Donnell commented on What is reality? on January 21, 2008, 11:30 PM
We don't and we never will, we can just come up with theories that reassure us. most importantly you must define for yourself what real means, It is a word we use to describe a presence of what the senses tell us.Imagine the condradictions if no one was real. I suspect we are real for one reason. form birth we comply to several factors in exactly the same way as any other object, we comply to these factors without previous knowledge of it and without choice. these are the laws of physics that have been laid down in Theory, they almost prove that we are real. I say almost because they remain, as all scientific descoveries, Theory. Our lives are in a state similar to theory, we will never be conclusively proven correct and so be reside in reality until proven unreal. In this way it is almost impossible to prove that we are not real, however there is still the possibility that someone may fly, in that case, most of what we know will be proven wrong, and therefore we may in fact prove that we are not real. one persons reality is exactly the same as another until it is filtered through humans cognitive thought, only then can the be a skewed view on reality, but the view does not change what actually is. in the case of theory and the reality in which we live, only one thing may be stated conclusively, doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd. The solution unfortunately may and almost certainly does,(remembering that absurdity can turn out to be veridical) transcend our conceptual resources altogether.

Firstly, you can't say the world needs to stop pointing the finger, and then point the finger at certain nations.secondly, the world is not greedy, it is the people in it, and the people in it are no greedier than they ever were.have you heard of the incas? that is just one example of greed on a massive scale.
