I know plenty of meat eating environmentalists. They go hunting in their back yards for white tailed deer that overpopulate the area. These deer overgrazed the native plant populations. The hunters then eat the meat that they hunt and properly dispose of the other remains in an environmental fashion. This in turn saves fuel costs of transportation of the meat that they would otherwise be eating had they not shot Bambi.

I'm with the guy above me here. Why can't an enviromentalist be a meat eater? I happen to have more respect for people who hunt and truly connect with their food and where it came from. What an incredibly arrogant statement you make Ingrid!

No I really agree with her. Obviously you didn't understand her point, you can say you are an environmentalist but action is another thing. She cites two very valid non-partisan sources, too. And as for your deer argument, animals don't overpopulate unless someone is messing with their numbers. If we stopped hunting they would go back to their regular survival ways of not having more babies than necessary. But because they know they are at risk for being murdered, they as a specie have more babies. Its science. Anyway, even if you had an argument, Ms. Newkirk was mostly focusing on the factory farming industry.

I completely agree with Ingrid. I am completely vegan for the animals, but eating meat & dairy also hurts our environment in the worst ways. Eating meat and dairy harm the animals, our environment, and people's health.

I believe that humans are omnivores, eating both meat and plant-based foods. The problem is that we eat WAY too much meat. We should cut back on the amount we eat, if we need it in our diet. I’ve tried MANY times to eat a vegetarian diet and get sick each time. I have cut back drastically on my consumption and only buy animal-based food where the animals have been treated humanely.

Saying you can’t be an environmentalist and eat meat, is like saying you can’t be an environmentalist and drive a car, live in a house with electricity or have a baby (which is one of the worst offenses of all – although no one ever says it). The problem is the abuse of each thing that impacts the environment – as well as the unbelievable overpopulation of the planet.

Yes, you can be an environmentalist and eat meat. Just because some douche bag with the social skills no extroverted then a cactus says so, doesn’t make it the most effective method.

Humans have been eating meat since the time they walked the earth; meat is emerged in our culture, religion, celebrations.

The problem is globalization; there are hundreds and thousands of conglomerate factory’s that produce goods, such as plastics, paper, and mercury. Plants like these do way worse destruction to the earth then carnivorous-ism.

Yet the best that someone can offer me is to stop eating meat. OMG Don’t choose environmental friendly products, our make conscience decisions about the products you buy. Boy Ingrid you just fix the world’s problems, Crack is also bad for the community, can you say something to Bobby Brown.

Just because we identified one problem that factors one of the world’s environmental issues, doesn’t make your point strong. There are many other things that a person can do to conserve and contribute to helping the environment super woman. by side winding kids into become vegetarians by fear makes you no better than an Al Qaeda jihadist, or a Christian terrorist playing on the fears of individuals like the succubus you are.
