Wes Boyd: Well certainly the war has to be a huge issue for the election. If we don’t figure out a way to disengage from that debacle, there will be no successful Congress. There will be no successful Presidency. We can’t face the big challenges we need to face. So that’s first and foremost. But then once we get out of that mess, we have to face . . . for example the climate crisis is the most pressing thing. We have to be . . . we have to have a plan because it’s all front loaded. If you wait 10 years, the problem gets twice as hard. If you wait 15 years, the problem gets three times as hard.

We should try to end political corruption via lobbists and corporatism. All other problems (War in Iraq, oil prices, credit crunch, environment and healhtcare crisis)flow from this main problem.

I agree with jto410, and the way I think we should go about this is to work toward dismantling all of our authoritarian institutions. To me it’s not just about pulling out of Iraq, but taking measures to prevent similar “debacles” from happening in the future.
To answer the main question, I don’t believe there is an issue on which I see eye to eye completely with any candidate, so the election means very little to me and I doubt I’ll be voting.

This country has so many problems right now it is impossible to point the finger at just one. The war and the economy are certainly two of our biggest problems right now, but we do need a leader who sees the big picture and works for the people, ALL of the people. Right now, our leaders are too focused on themselves and they have been for far too long.

When has there ever been a successful congress? Furthermore, in order to combat the environment, we must combat the source of pollution and that is at large industry and corporations who practice corporate dumping. In addition, we must engage in a new innovations of energy, and in order for this to be accomplished, corporations must be willing to sacrifice their efforts of profiteering, and join the commonwealth of the world in creating new energy resources rather than exploiting the earth for corporate greed!
