Yes the climate is changing, getting warmer, the ice caps are melting, no one is disputing this any longer because of Al Gore. This warming has helped humans to stand up and start doing something about the reckless consuption and combustion of fossil fuels. But, are big buisness, developemtn, and the media using global warming for profit, ignoring, hiding, or concealing other major enviromental issues, like for example, habitat destruction. The major cause of species extinction on the planet.
Al Gore did a good thing with his movie regarding education as well as easing people's fears by saying we can do simple things to stop global warming. But we will need to do more to save the Earth from the mass extinction occuring due to habitat loss.
YOu are now considered green if you DRIVE a CAR!
Now to the main question. People have said that it is fashoinable to be green now. And in repsonse they insert "Well it can't hurt, it's helping the environment." I say it can be harmful. Production of green products is misleading, it is still destruction to creat production. Also what happens to fads, when they become "un-cool?" The fad dies and it becomes extremely "un-cool" to follow that fad any longer. So what will happen to being "GREEN?"

The problem with commercial environmentalism is the focus is on consuming and not reducing.

For example, the focus is now on building new green homes neglecting that the new home just gobbled up more valuable habitat for the rest of the species on this planet.

Our biggest environmental problems are Global warming and Habitat destruction the latter is being ignored in this new consumer green fashion show we are watching.

The reasons why habitat is being ignored is obvious. There is no money in it!
