If the music industry is so concerned, maybey they shouldn't be cranking out such crappy music. If there were music acts worth a damn, I'd feel better about supporting those bands. If I like a band, I'll definitely support them by buying a cd, or going to a show, maybe buying merchandise. But for the most part the music scene is mediocre at best and it's they're own fault. If musicians weren't so lazy and putting out all this canned music and tried something like I don't know, being original people might be more likely to support it.
