This is a positive view; and one I agree with on its level. However, "self interest" as understood by evolutionary biology includes the good feeling generated by helping others, practicing religion or superstition, doing "the right thing," and other good acts. So, we need to explore further.

It would seem that if we use the term "selfish" instead of "self-interested", rStanley's concern would be mitigated.
