What story is missing from the news?
President, Sinn Fein
The easily fixable problems afflicting the developing world are missing from our radar, says Gerry Adams.

Really? Seriously, global poverty is a story not being sufficiently reported upon? That a terribly foolish thing to say. It may not be being reported to the level this individual's agenda would like to see, but it's certainly out there.
Does Mr. Adams really suppose that if a 2 cent pouch of salt and sugar could cure these countless deaths (the numbers of which he conflates beyond all reason) it wouldn%u2019t be happening? Huge parts of this world care, and give and support. If it were as simple as Mr. Adams makes it seem, do we truly believe we wouldn%u2019t be making greater inroads?
As to the fabulous tabulation of deaths, my quick math shows that Mr. Adams claims that close to 3½ billion babies are dying per year of curable diseases (10,000/90 seconds = 9.6 million/day = 3.5 billion/year). That%u2019s babies alone, mind you. Really now.
Most dispiriting of all is the face that accompanies this proclamation. Watch the clip twice. See in his expression, how very clear and obvious it is that he is making this stuff up on the spot.
It%u2019s a very sad and telling thing, to watch this sort of intellectual fraud being performed before our eyes. As people, we need to be more respectful to one another, and less crazed about our own beliefs. If it becomes so important that our own views become another%u2019s that we think nothing of essentially flat-out lying to one another throughout our daily existences, even when a camera is stuck in our faces, we are lost. Shame on Mr. Adams.
Seems to me that Mr. Adams is guilty of committing the very sin he decries. Talk about dumbing us all down.
