I think Dr Lisa's comments are very circumspect and timely. We can see two obvious proofs that this is a real issue: 1) the biggest Physics experiment in history isn't happening here, so we no longer lead the world in that field, and 2) At the present time England is facing budget cuts and has selected Astrophysics as a target for massive reduction. This is a barometer of political thinking, and unfortunately, a major observatory may be reduced to an ineffective level of function. Thank You for reading.Gary Haun
