I heard that the cost per year per student in Minneapolis is half that in Washington, DC, but the “Results” are inversely related. What kind of investment do you have in mind? Cultural Brainwashing? disigny

I’m not understanding what you mean by Cultural Brainwashing, disigny. The label could have many different meanings.
What is the reference for your statement because “results” could also mean many things. It would be interesting to know how the students were compared statistically.
When it comes to many things Minneapolis and Washington, D.C. seem to be in two different countries.
I agree with Ezekiel about needing to invest in education. The education of the children in our country has fallen behind other countries. First we need to invest in our children by respecting them by setting boundaries so they learn how to behave appropriately in society. Allowing teachers to expect children to learn and do the work for themselves would be a great start.
Many schools need repair, proper equipment and laboratories. There is a great difference between schools in a community let alone between different states. For example, in one community in which we lived the elementary school my children attended donated paper, pencils, crayons, etc. to another elementary school only an hours drive away in the same state.
The USA has the capacity to have good schools across the country. The decision must be made to stop spending money on more military bases around the world, huge embassies in occupied countries and payment to ineffectual military contractors. That would save plenty of money to get the country back onto a constructive rather than a destructive path.
