Peter Tatchell is a journalist and human rights activist. A vocal advocate of LGBT issues, he co-founded OutRage! in 1990 to fight for equal rights for the LGBT community. In 1994 Tatchell and OutRage! publicly outed ten Church of England bishops, calling on them to acknowledge their secret homosexual affairs in light of their support for anti-gay legislation. He also made headlines in 1999 and again in 2001 when he attempted a citizen's arrest of Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe. In 2006 the British magazine The New Statesmen ranked Tatchell sixth on their list "Heroes of Our Time."
Tatchell was featured in Big Think's "Month of Thinking Dangerously," contributing the dangerous idea that we should lower the age of consent to 14.
