First, as to "mind numbing ooze", this strike includes not only THOSE writers, but writers of truly exceptional material, like "There Will Be Blood", or "No Country For Old Men", or "Juno", or "30 Rock", or "24", or any number of other films and shows that move and entertain a whole lot of people. I live in Los Angeles. I care about a lot of stuff, like global warming, preserving habitat, animal rights, cleaning up government, seeing more money spent on schools and kids and grassy playgrounds, and well, the list goes on and on. I have a great sense of humor, but to be honest, it's been harder to "think funny" the last several years. The proverbial shit has hit the inevitable fan, and it seems these are genuinely serious times, requiring serious thought and commitment and action. I will say though that while doing my stretching and exercise the other day, I had "The Life Aquatic by Steve Zissou" on and I laughed aloud more than once. It felt good.
