I too agree with Mr. Lehrer. HOWEVER, The United States needs to take a major leadership role so as to help prevent the advance of global warming and environment decay. Unless we learn to resolve and cure these critical problems, we may not have to worry at all about the education of our future generations

Absolutely, especially when the Arts are supported by a government of and by the people. Commercialism, especially in the media arts, has generated more mediocrity than any public sponsorship.
