It is the same for the Confederate flag. When conservatism has been damaged in the publics eye, you will see their flag come out more. This statement means different things for different southerners. For some, they just want their friends and community to know their loyalty to their community. For others, they may be trying to reveal their discontent in the system. In my opinion of freedom, separate communities should be aloud to present the Confederate flag on their community property by vote or by representative. If you happen to be out numbered by vote, live with it or move. It is a free country.
If you are offended by someones dress, go away. It is a free country.

It’s just another cultural identifier, but people who are ‘put upon’ tend to find ways to push back. Every minority has tended to ‘ghettoize’ and find strength in those of like tribes. Some just like to be contrary… I know I do!
