Not to question your overall message, but just to focus on your statement that, in short…

“[in Israel] you have freedom of religion.”

Haven’t you heard or experienced the problems it causes when American or British tourists stray too far from the tour group to discuss religion with Israeli Nationals?

My understanding, albeit not from first hand experience is that Israel is not nearly a place for free expression of religion. Am I completely missing something?

Will your response be any different if I told you that I am Jewish or not. I’m hoping that I’m overlooking some compelling evidence,  contrary to what I’ve learned from a number of sources. I would enjoy believing that Jews in Israel are more tolerant than in other nations. But, at least some Israelis are fundamentalist at minimum.
