I think there is a real economic crisis looming for people reaching retirement age who wish to (or need to) reduce the number of hours they work for health or spiritual reasons. Work in the technology sector has not been re-organized by IT leaders or HR departments to allow for people to work part time. I have to think that there is more than inability to cope involved. I have met many people who cannot cope who are not extremists. I am concerned that many world leaders are projecting their own angst towards others in the world in a competitive way and reflect that angst to their own people in terms of new political orthodoxies
