"Don't reinvent the wheel" - I say that a lot. A lot of developers like to show off their skillset by developing frameworks and extensive class structures that often just add complexity to a project. My philosophy is to keep things as simple as possible. The easier the code is to understand, the easier it is to maintain and troubleshoot (and upgrade). Feature-creep is often deadly.

Dirk Watkins studied computer science and art at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Dirk now works as a web application developer in Milwaukee programming mostly in c#, sql and javascript. Philosophically, Dirk tries to make things usable and simple - trimming down complex things into bite-size chunks.
