Example: I intended to have a wife and two kids. A week after being married we found out we were going to have a child. After asking for a healthy baby I asked for a boy first then a girl a couple of years later. I now have two healthy kids a boy and a girl 29 months apart.

I don't ask for much, but I usually get what I ask for.

Does thinking, visualizing, imagining, meditating, requesting, have an influence on directing potential? Does a mind with more energy, or focus, have greater influence on potential? And if this is true, is there any moral obligations associated with such knowledge?

Thank you in advance for your intelligent comments.

first of all hz.. well done to you. Nice result.

but for every wish that was interpreted as being fulfilled how many go unfulfilled and what does that mean? they didn’t ‘want’ it as badly or legitimately as you? they were not in touch with their ‘energy potential’? maybe..
what rewards such heartfelt invocations as to the type of kiddies you’d like? My most devout catholic mate got the girl he wanted on the 4th try! he has 3 fantastic boys as the collateral damage!

even an atheist like me has some ability to be cognisant of the effect of positive attitude. call it karma if you like… but it’s a no brainer that positivity trumps negativity… but leave me some room to manouvere hz!!

good luck with the little Canadians!

musycks, first off, thanks for your kind words, and secondly, for asking questions.

I hope you do not mind if I paraphrase.

Q1: For every intention that becomes matter how many do not become matter and what does this mean?
My Guess(MG)1: I have no idea. 1 to 1, 1 to 2, 1 to 5, 1 to 10, 1 to 100, et al. (am I using that right? et al?) As far as the meaning for this, let’s explore your next two questions.

Q2: People don’t get the matter they want because the do not ‘want’ it as badly or legitimately as others that do?
MG2: People don’t know what they want. People don’t know they can place intention on potential. People don’t know where to place their intention.

Q3: People are not aware of their ‘energy potential’?
MG3: Not just that, but also the massive potential energy that lies within each atom of the billions of atoms at our finger tips.

These would be some of my guesses as to why most peoples ‘desires’ do not become objects of matter. (This is excluding of course the potential power of cold hard cash).

Q4: What rewards this intention?
MG4: (That’s the million dollar question, isn’t it?) Potential energy. The energy that exists all around us. It is void of potential and therefore accepts others without resistance.

As for your mate, (and I am just asking a question, not baiting my point), was his intention before the moment of the first conception to have a girl? Or did this ‘desire’ for a girl come after the first boy and so on? And where did he lay his intention? Catholic God? Or a Catholic God he really didn’t even believe? (Just questions, because I do not know your mate of 45 years. And I did not intent this to be a conversation about what sex your children will be, it was just an example. I hope the girl is just as fantastic as the three boys. And before the sex, my intention was for healthy children).

As for your final statements, of course an atheist would be able to produce matter from potential. You can call it Karma, or instant Karma, if you wish. I’ll know it as something else, but not deny you a conversation if you know it as Karma.

Yes, positivity triumphs over negativity, as long as negativity is not dominating the individual.
And thank you for the advice on leaving a little room for the artful plan.

(disclaimer: intention should be free of desire).

If they were just Canadians, I think it would be easier, but they are Serbian French Canadians, two pure breeds, (centuries old), combined, the potential is mind blowing. I would be stupid not apply some peaceful, loving, intention.

I think that prayer/meditation/deliberate creation… what ever you want to call it… is more obviously relevant when you balance out the asking, thanking, and general communing. Its not that we have a limit of things we can pray for and get (to quote Donald Miller, God is not a slot machine…) but its the reasons we pray.

Sorry I have to make a correction… I don’t consider prayer the same as deliberate creation, that is a separate new age theory, I believe… but the similarities to meditation still remain

well.. my friend is a as devout as possible.. he dislikes the right wing types of his church, but he completely supports the theology..
so this is a pretty new age concept I guess, where you focus energy into ‘creating’ your reality.. like children ‘choosing’ their parents? maybe there’s a dimension to it we intuitively yearn for? I can’t dismiss it out of hand as the power of the mind is not fully understood… but that cuts both ways, as some people are living in delusionville because of what their mind constructs for them…
nice idea though hz.. and that little ethnic brew you’ve propagated looks like a potent one.. they’ll keep you on your toes I’d say!

musycks, yes it a small membrane that seperates creating matter from thought and creating illusion from despair. I like to call that membrane skin. If it exist oustide of me it is probably matter, and therefore matters. If it exists only inside of my brain, then it is probably thought, and therefore isn’t really matter.

children are products of your sperm production and your wifes healthy egg…..

i ll spare you the middle school sex ed. however my point is that is where kids come from….

anyway i also seem to have a high rate of success of acquiring the things that i ask for… i could get into a lot of stories…. i also have a history of asking for something genric or sort of lowering my expecatation for something and i end up with something much better… for example needing 20 dollars to pay a bill and finding some work that i get paid 100 dollars for

anyway that is a minor example of asking for what you could use and being given something even better

“i dont ask for much”

you can ask for as much as you want, kids are a miracle, let alone healthy, intelligent, and well parented kids

you see it is when people ask for very little like a nicer car or more money than they need that Gods answer may not be satisfying for them…. asking for something we consider simple like kids i think God must recongnize how much we are really asking for when compared to matirlastic desires…

something sad i had to listen to the other day this girl at work was complaining she never had time to party anymore cause she had 2 kids…. she said it like they were a burden and i just wanted to open her eyes to how much she really had but i had no idea what to say as i was baffled by my own fellow human beings ignorance of the beauty around them and how their desires for nothingness like more time to “party” or go “clubbing” are so bleak compared to the oppurtunty of rasing the children you have been blessed with

if i could invent anything i wanted i would invent a machine much like was seen in hitchhikers guide to the galaxy… you know those arms that smacked people anytime they had an idea?? well mine would smack us anytime we were being ignorant, apathetic,or mean-spirited, people could really use something like this because there are times i see these thing and i just become speechless… i am almost horrified at how ignorant, apathetic, and mean spirited we can all be at times

in short your kids are a blessing and they are something we are very much justified in asking much for… i hope kids like yours are able to help children like hers deal with the way they were brought into life… we gotta spread that love

“pokoj, is the sum total of ones thoughts, greater than, one constant thought?”

hmmm… if you mean an unending though… like where does a thought end and another begin? It comes down to the intent behind the thought I guess…

In my case I have to differentiate between what I call “thought diarrhea” and intentional thought.

“it a small membrane that seperates creating matter from thought and creating illusion from despair.”

Awesome way of putting it… this is very important when dealing with this type of idea… This is why I hate that book “The Secret.”

Jesse, I think positive thought can effect children vastly in the womb, or even things such as playing certain kinds of music.

As much as I love kids, I’ve never felt the desire to have one. There are many factors in this, but mostly that I don’t really want to be responsible for bringing a life into this world. Not out of laziness on my part, but because I don’t think they deserve it. Let them remain a part of God. There is enough overpopulation as it is.

No. The amount of thought you can put into a hundred different things at once is nil. The amount of though you can put into one idea over a period of time is immense. All the difference in the world…

hz, Nice! Watch, while I pull a rabbit out of my hat!

Wouldn’t it be nice if your premise was true!

Wait a minute, what about the intention of evil?

Intention starts you on the path toward your goal. End results will vary based on infinite possibilities.

I also have two wonderful children. My son is 10, and my daughter, 7. My wife and I are extremely lucky to have them. I would thank modern science, (the religious gasp!), and some luck, coupled with sheer determination.

ss, I think the premise is true. I just didn’t want to come out and say it. I think your point of evil intention is a perfect example.
I’m not saying ‘God’ does this for you, I’m thinking it is the potential that lies within every atom that can do this for you. Yes, which I sometimes refer to as God. But what can I say? I’m a pantheist.

As far as cars go, not really a car nut. Drive a truck. Not a truck nut either. I love Formula One, I’d love to be a race car driver, but that’s about it. No amount of intention will get me behind the wheel of a F1 car. Could force my son to do it, if I wanted to spend all my intention to use his life to live out my dreams.

In reference to thoughts with ill (or evil or broken or whatever) intent, sometimes these types of thoughts get results faster, as they are based in a world where I believe evil is rampant and willing to show its power. But it ends up turning back on you.
Like “be careful what you wish for.”

The studies on mental attitude in regard to physical healing show promise that our minds can actually assist the body during recovery from various ailments. If only we could understand more…We live in a primitive age when it comes to stuff like this.

pokoj, I agree with your thoughts regarding evil intention. Selfish and evil tend to be the easier routes.

ss, we don’t always have to understand more of something for it to work. Sometimes accepting our human limitations of understanding is enough to allow other ‘unknowable’ things to come into action. Allow these things to matter without fully understanding them.
Healing is a better example of intention creating matter from potential, than mine with the kids.

User_roxn_44a1ec161

sciencesaves on May 7, 2008, 8:05 AM

hz, Hey, an active post! At last! Not much activity going on in general for some reason.

Intentions.

Mine are to continue to maintain life as I know it, teach my kids how to think for themselves, and hopefully work out some type of better relationship with my wife.
Most importantly, continue random acts of kindness, and just try to live the golden rule a bit better.

ps Be more tolerant of others beliefs.

User_rqyu_e08a270df

dennis ilic on May 7, 2008, 11:35 PM

pokoj, I believe there is nothing to fear in life, including death. It’s simply a matter of reminding myself of that.
You could buy a chili dog without making it. What would be easier? I hope you have already enjoyed your chili dog.
As far as healing is considered: I believe the human spirit and the human mind can do miraculous things. Conversely I have seen men, including myself, and women with a broken spirit and a deranged mind cause unjust and unimaginable suffering upon their physical body. I have seen the power of words, repeated, like a mantra, save people and also destroy people. The difference between the words I will not and I cannot. The first is a choice and the second is a submission.
My advice, to anyone that cares to listen is: be aware of the words you use. Especially the ones you keep in your mind. Are these words beneficial to your intentions or are the detrimental to your existence.
ss, I hope you will not take any offense to what I am about to do. I would like to re-word your intentions. I sense you are a good person and I want you to take this as advice from one big T friend to another. Your intentions are beautiful but they are not presented strongly.
The power of words:
Intentions.
To live life beyond as I know it.
To allow my kids to think for themselves.
To have a better relationship with my wife.
To continue random acts of kindness.
To live the golden rule.
To be more tolerant of others.

I don’t think I changed the meaning of your intentions, I simply removed words of uncertainty.
I love you both, and I send out vibes to come your fears, and to harmonize your relationship.
Peace of mind, love of life.

I am familiar with yoga, breathing, colour therapy, aromatherapy, touch therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, horticultural therapy, pet therapy, visualization and meditation.
I find much of it has to do with being in the moment. Staying in the moment. Keeping the mind from wondering away from the present.
Not regretting the past, not worrying about the future.

I am always open to further information, however, I have found practice of any of these aformentioned activities, is more beneficial than, more ‘new’ information.
