I agree with those of you who seem to be saying that philosophy today is really a combination of analysis and interpretation of the present, as well as psychoanalysis of the reasoning behind it. We are an ever evolving species, so philosophy, however you label it, is as important today as it was in ancient civilizations.

If a person wants to attain true happiness all through their life, no matter what situations arise, they have to start with centering themselves and looking within for peace and appreciation for their life in general. You have to get to the very core of your own being and that begins with gratitude for every breath you take. You will then create the world you want, because you will always be in a place of satisfaction and peace. Everyone needs to read the 81 verses of the Tao Te Ching. It is enlightening to say the least.

crazyjen sounds like my twin. Your deep thinking has made you very enlightened. Pick up a copy of Wayne Dyer's "change your thoughts, change your life." Although you've already changed your thoughts, it's a beautiful interpretation of the Tao Te Ching written by Lao Tzu over 2,500 yrs. ago. Every one of the 81 verses can be applied to today. It's very powerful.
