Collaboration is great. And the net can definitely facilitate that. But a society that places too much emphasis on collaboration might quash individual excelllence. A conundrum, no doubt, but one to which attention should be paid.

Can new media help create a new public sphere?
Jurgen Habermas ascribed the rise of 'old' media -- print journalism -- as giving rise to a public sphere where citizens could engage in discourse on important ideas. While BigThink is clearly a step in that direction, does new media really have the power to generate a new public sphere?
