As a Canadian, I am always amazed at by the way that the Canadian health care system is presented and maligned in mainstream American media.

Perhaps it’s a function of the extensive resources/lobbying of those who get huge profits.

I’d love to see an international comparison of dollar spent on healthcare per capita vs other health related statistics. I would guess that Canada outranks the US in every major health related stat while spending/wasting far less money doing it.

The vast majority of Canadians are not only pleased with the single payer system but consider it one of our defining qualities and a great source of pride. The “father” of our health care system, Tommy Douglas, was declared the Greatest Canadian in 2004.

From the outside it seems like profiteering has replaced morality on so many US fronts.
