What do you think it is?

That question seems like it is asking for an ultimate truth, and to be honest I don’t know if there is a definitive answer to that question. To answer “what is the nature of beauty?” depends on the person who has a preconsieved idea of that beauty is at that given moment in time. Beauty and it’s relationship to the woman’s identity is a tricky subject. I think the simplest answer would be to say that women’s beauty in trend/fashion/media has been defined through the patriachal perspective thus far.

What I think the nature of physical beauty is, is our desire to be a part of and experience beauty. To define and see (be a part of) someone’s exterior beauty gives us (male and female) immediate gratification to the senses of something wonderful. I believe it is an easy distraction towards the true need for ‘inner’ beauty, or an inner self completedness. In regards to the woman’s identity, I believe that the woman’s attraction to defining their physical beauty is a way of being in touch with their artistic side. The part of themselves that subtely want to communicate their identiy to others.
