Re: Re: If you had $100 billion to give away, how would you spend it?

There a 100 billion things you can do with that kind of money. But with such an opportunity, I would invest into something that is residual, but in many ways not just money.  I dream of investing into a number of the most impoverished countries in the world. Establish technologies that provide free energy, clean water, a strong agriculture, and housing. The technology is there it has been invented, But noone is jumping on the band wagon. THe best part is that we can establish learning institutions that reasearch and teach the technology to the youth! Over a few decades the country might be better off than many other countries. They can work and live for themselves!  Better yet, we can continue to test and develop better systems over at those countries. Then use those same technologies accross the world. This would be my dream but unfortunately I believe such peace is impossible as long as someone wants the biggest pot; eventhough he/she has everything needed to live comfortably.     … Read More

Re: Can Vertical Farming Save Us?

I've been a vegetarian now for about a year. I'm still learning a lot and making many changes in my diet. With the research I do, I'm looking forward to beat the age barrier If its possible. I know the only way its possible is through complete nutrition, and there is nothing more remarkably nutritious than Raw foods and produce. But in America you can buy more burgers and junk instead of real produce for a dollar. America is not cursed with top records of chronic diseases and obesity; America acts as if they are blessed with them. That has a lot to do with how much more money processed foods make compared to cropping an abundance of highly nutritious foods. Other wise why are these kinds of foods (like avocados, nuts, pineapples, the list can go on) so expensive?- Because you can sell a whole lot more corn to Frito lays (although I am a Doritos fanatic!).If We can harvest all kinds of food through vertical farming within urban areas... The world would change, there would be hope for us after all. I don't know what this may do to farms, but living in urban areas can deprive you of what it means to be being in this earth. I know people that live off of snickers, chips, and soda. I wouldn't want to turn farms into flint Michigan, but they should just worry about the raising of animals. Get somewhere with cloning them and make an abundance of eggs and milk.  (look whats the difference between cloning and breeding? without god or mother nature it wouldn't happen anyway) My opinion is that in society there is no virtue in money. Technology so be used to help all living things.   … Read More

I think that Pinker's answer is quite empowering. He was simply focusing on the simple meaning of influence. Parenting has a sort of an intertwined relationship for as to how our personality develops. At times we embrace the influence from our parents because they lead us to self-realization. That is not to say that without them it's not possible or common. Many secular environments and cultures today reinforce staples that "romanticizes the impact parenting", but the same would not apply in some form of a Utopian society would it? Which have existed and for all i know, they still do. I think babies would live!

Re: Re: Why are you a vegan?

I'm a little frustrated that people have found a way to include that political perspective into something as personal as what you eat. Nutrition should be the only deciding factor. For one thing, can humans eat meat? really? do we have the same stomach acids of that of a dog or other carnivore to devour meat like we do on television and meat eating contests? NO. Most of the times that humans ingest meat it is followed by discomfort and a really long and tiring digestive process. The meat takes various days to digest so while you pack some more on at your next meal your first pieces of meat pile up in your intestinal tract. Yeah, thats why raw meat literali sticks to your colon thus, a main cause for colon cancer.  Bad part of it is that with meat you get a great amount of protein but so many other damaging things about meat that for me, makes it useless to eat it.  For example, the fat of meat is the main reason why meat is so hard to digest and its the animal fat that your body can't metabolize to it rides along with your blood cells until it clumps up at some point, oxidises creates an infection then is diagnosed as  Heart disease!I never go through this much trouble eating soy protein, or enjoying protein from my broccoli. Being a vegeterian is too easy! my kitchen doesn't have to be constantly disenfected for bacteria my dishes mainly get a rinse to clean if there is no fat or oil consumed. Imagine number 2 that even you don't notice a smell! I could go on about the benefits. But let me tell you, PETA didn't make the choice for me.  … Read More
