I can’t usually be bothered to go through the tedious signing up process in order to comment on such things, but I’m afraid this lady had such an irritating style of speech I simply had to. Her idea, nay, prejudice, that one can’t be a boss and a mother is incorrect, my mother for instance has run several small businesses and been continually self-employed, and of course employed other people throughout my lifetime. Furthermore, i feel the “issue” of certain demographics not living up to their statistical expectations of presence in the workplace would be better dealt with by concrete analysis, strategy and policy; not the rather simple “it would be good if…” or “it should be”. I find these statements to be lacking in original thought and a crude reflection of the misconception that there “should” be more of one type of person in such and such a working environment simply because it would seem to reflect the general population more accurately
