What about the religious perspective?  The possibility of sustained longevity is one thing, but the desirability is completely another.  Should it be entirely possible for one to choose (within reason, I assume economically and otherwise), I have the feeling that there will be many who would reject such treatments outright.  Life would become some sort of game, what you choose to do with your time nearly becomes meaningless.  We have enough meaninglessness in one life span to be overwhelmed.

People are very good at occupying time with trite things.  I have many friends who are experts at minesweeper.  Imagine playing minesweeper for three years on end.  How does infinity sound?  I much prefer Heaven to this earth, even with the best that this earth has to offer.
