well if you are subscribed to guitar world you'll know almost every issue they try to make it seems as if the guy on the cover is the ultimate it's always the king they never just admit that this guy's great at this part of the guitar this guy at that. (this month they actually have ynwie malmsteen holding a staff being proclaimed the king) truth is there area lot of really good guitarists technially wise.
Guy's like buckethead and Ynwie Malmsteen and michael angelo batio all are at unbelievable levels of skill but influential? barely. Tobe unfluential you need to chahge the game guys like Van Halen and Hendrix are always named and Dimebag of course but that's because they chnaged a lot they wrote riffs that changed music. Let's mention Tony Iommi (dude's missin fingers for god sake)
