I would say that Theo Jansen puts up a strong fight in this question. If anyone has seen that little add with him, he is even described as the modern-day da Vinci. He is an "organic sculptor". What he does is created wooden contraptions that harness wind power and will eventually live out there own lives living and walking on the beaches of the Netherlands. They are really quite remarkable, and I urge you to look for them.  But he is rather one dimensional so does not fit the rennaissance man mold of da Vinci. I'd like to hear thoughts on this. I personally think it is hard to see a renaissance man except for in retrospect, such as the case with Teddy Roosevelt, one of my heroes. So please, post your ideas.
