Mantis, are you saying that you would not want to learn about any fiction whatsoever? Would not read Shakespeare or science fiction? If there is evidence for everything there is no curiosity and creativity, no desire for discovery. Where do you think ideas come from? Also, asking a student to learn about religion and corresponding texts is not the same as asking the student to adopt these beliefs. Religion has shaped the history of the world and has been the subject of some of the greatest thinkers; it would be foolish to not expose students to the beliefs of billions around the world.
