Unfortunately, science and religion do conflict already since religion makes various claims that can be tested by science. Those claims have been tested and in many cases have been shown false. If the claims of religion that we can currently test with science are shown to be false, on what basis are the claims that we cannot currently test with science supported?  I would contend that religion provides no basis of support for the claims that it makes and thus those claims should be looked upon with skepticism unless and until they can be verified or supported by another means.
