This is a fantastic quote. Aside from the powerful words, the fact that Epicurus was an ancient Greek philosopher who lived from 341-270BCE is empowering. Personally, I find that the majority of media coverage about religion fails to provide even the slightest context for the history of disbelief. Instead, television journalists seem to approach issues concerning science and religion as an ignoramus in order to avoid being seen as biased.
As a Canadian, I am constantly inundated by media coverage from the U.S. concerning the science/religion "debate." In fact, the only well-developed examination of this issue in the U.S. (that I have seen) was a program by PBS called "Judgement Day: Intelligent Design on Trial" that focussed on the efforts to teach 'intelligent design' in science classes in U.S. public schools.
