The suggestion that candidates with faith should withdraw from seeking office if the faith would do harm...won't float. It should be obvious: people with faith, especially those who are evangelical, are very proud of the faith...and certainly think that their faith is an asset to them and to their constituency. They KNOW, in their hearts, that The Lord speaks to them...through the holy word or even more directly. Sharing that word is their gift to the rest of us.
In my view, relgion in politics is very dangerous.
