Maybe this is a bad question. Implies that there is something that the U.S. has to get ready for that specifically intersects with one's sex. Maybe, we may need to ask, is the U.S. still sexist (or so sexist that it will not elect a candidate based on gender)? If we ask that, the burden is shifted on to those that are sexist, not women. The same reframing can go towards the question asked about Obama, "Is America ready for a Black President" or, "Are Americans so racist that they will not elect a Black candidate for President? If the answers to the questions reframed are "Yes" which I think can be empirically argued, we then need to help those sick Americans help their sick selves.
