Corect me if im wrong but i belive the original quote by Locke was "life, liberty, and the pursuid of property. Jefferson changed it to i assume romanticize the idea a bit. But i think if they had kept it as it was, then america does a great job of promoting pursuit of property, in fact the entire system is based around it. Happiness on the other hnt is subjective, to some property may bring happiness, to others not.
