the affect the media has on the practice of medicine is both positive and negative. by encouraging law suits and with the overflow of premature medical information patients now know more and are beginning to demand their knowledge be acted upon. as a result the historical doctor-patient relationship is becoming more of a consumer-provider relationship. while it is vital for patients to be involved in their care; the threat and fear of potential lawsuits hinders doctors and patients from providing/receiving the best/appropriate care.
